I ran across this story today and thought to myself, "Really? Are you kidding me?"
Brandon Marshall is apparently one of those athletes that thinks because he has reached a certainly level of success in the NFL that anyone who has not achieved the same success has opinions which do not matter.
That is quite interesting considering the former receiver he is questioning dominates him statistically at the same point in their careers. However, that is not the funniest part.
Marshall said the guys on the NFL Network are not "coaches" and should just stick to what they do. Hmmm, I wonder if he would feel different had John Gruden or Tony Dungy criticized him? They were successful "coaches", right?
But wait. Gruden and Dungy were't "Hall of Fame guys" as players. So wouldn't that discredit their opinions in Marshall's eyes? What about Bill Bellichek, Andy Reid, Sean Payton or even his own coach, Tony Sporano? Not a "Hall of Fame guy" in the bunch, at least as players.
Isn't it funny how some of these "elite" athletes think that because of a certain gene pool and gifted work ethic that somehow they are smarter than everyone else who wasn't "blessed" with the same gifts? I wonder if Warren Buffet or Bill Gates decided to give him some "life" advice, would he would shrug it off because they cannot run a 4.4 40 and don't posses a 40" vertical?
Brandon may want to keep his mouth shut next time he wants to fire back at a critic. At the very least, he should check his facts. I don't think Mike and Mike still have the "Just Shut Up" award but if they did, Marshall would certainly win this week. So Brandon, my advice to you, with my 5.0 40 and 20" vertical is this...JUST SHUT UP!
