World of Mixed Martial Arts 3

This has become one of my favorite games over the past few years. I stumbled across WMMA2 a couple of years ago while wanting to play an MMA game and not having a console system. I was quite familiar with text-based games since I had been playing Out of the Park Baseball for several years. I thought incorporating that text-based approach into an MMA game would be interesting. So, I downloaded it. I've been hooked ever since.

WMMA 3 released last December and has received a ton of critical acclaim. While it took me a couple of months to decide to upgrade from WMMA2, I have not looked back since making that decision. If you have ever wondered what it would be like to be Dana White or to run an MMA promotion, you have to check this game out.

WMMA3 expands vastly on a very enjoyable WMMA2 experience. There are innumerable options for creating mods (expansion databases that differ from the default data) which has led to some very good mods on the forums. There are even three or four real life MMA mods allowing you to play with the UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator, etc.

The updated fight engine is pretty amazing too. While I still think fighters miraculously escape too many sub attempts, the play-by-play and flow to the fights gives you a sense of watching or listening to a real match. There have even been some Anderson Silva-Chael Sonnen-type fights relived and recapped in the forums.

There has also been a tremendous amount of work done by the community to create renders (graphical representations) of new fighters and a re-working of some of the older ones. The default fighter database is now up to over 1,300 unique fighters with mods.

This game is certainly a must have for any hardcore MMA fan or text-based simmer. You will spend many-a-night getting lost in your virtual MMA dynasty.
